Manon Bovenkerk graduated in 1995 at the Academy of Visual Arts and Design in Den Bosch (NL). Her work consists of series of drawings with a narrative element, which she subsequently uses to make animation videos and books. Thus the same drawings can translate to separate media, still forming a unit concerning content. Her work is shown in filmfestivals, galleries and other exhibition spaces.
Bovenkerk worked from 1999 untill 2001 as a coordinator and curator for artists’ initiative Foundation Artis. From 2004 until 2006 she was a member of artists’ initiative Het Wilde Weten in Rotterdam, a public platform for all forms of contemporary art, cultural exchange, discussion and debate about current issues and developments within the arts. Bovenkerk still works as an independent curator and advisor for a wide variety of organisations. She lives and workes in Rotterdam.
